Apply For The Early Readers Library Grant

“I don't believe in the kind of magic in my books. But I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.”
― J.K. Rowling

At Pratham Books, we believe in the magic of books and are presenting organizations with an opportunity to receive not one book...but a library of books! Why libraries? Because according to the ASER Survey 2014 - "School enrolments are at an all-time high of 96.7%, but 52% of children in Standard 5 in government schools cannot read Standard. 2 level text". As a child starts facing difficulties of reading, she starts slipping behind in her grades. Thus, providing joyful reading material for first generation learners in a language of their choice is what we are trying to do.

If you are an organization that works with children we invite you to apply for an Early Readers’ Library Grant*.

100 classroom libraries will be donated to organizations/schools working with children from low-income communities

#DaanUtsav : 6 Library Campaigns You Can Donate To

Daan Utsav is India’s festival of giving that brings people from various sectors together, to celebrate and spread the joy of sharing. Held annually in the first week of October (2nd-8th), the festival has empowered millions of Indians to give back to society.

Through DaanUtsav people can choose how they want to give back to society - through time, material, money or love. If you believe in the work we do and want to support it, please consider making a donation towards any of these library campaigns that are currently running on our Donate-a-Book platform.

A donation as small as Rs.250 can make a big difference to a school that has no/less access to books!

  • Support the campaign that seeks to set up ten libraries in schools and learning centres in rural Tamil Nadu.
  • Add more books to Sanjeevani Hospital Foundation's library in Maharashtra.
