Twittering Thursday

Tweet tweet... the first twitter recap for this year!

Starting with the Parkour Flip Book which speaks of oodles of creativity and patience. Watch it just because it is so awesome!

BOOKS/ PUBLISHING/ READING

Anagram Bookshop has a brilliant series of 'Words Create Worlds' posters. Take a look at the list of literary events taking place across the world in the month of January. The PaperTigers blog has launched their Reading the World Challenge 2010.

Found a link to a really nice two storey library building for Safe Haven orphanage in Ban Tha Song Yan village, in Thailand. Talking about libraries, Narendra Modi was also tweeting about home libraries and reading (read the tweets here, here and here). Gyan-Key is taking libraries to villages in India.

Find out which books to look out for this year. @weheartbooks linked us to the first part of the best children's book covers of 2009. The Hindu picks out the five best Kannada Books of 2009. We were also revisiting our blog archives : 'Cartooning and Democratization' and Brian Dettmer's Book Autopsies.

BibliOdyssey has some marvellous and rare illustrations drawn by Beatrix Potter. @roundmyskull tweeted about a 1942 kids' book from Brazilian artist Candido Portinari

January 1st was public domain day. Here is a list of authors whose works entered the public domain in 2010. A short while after the previous tweet was sent, @abhaga suggested that we could all try and build an India specific list with authors whose works have entered the public domain this year. If you do know of any authors, please help build the list. You can leave a comment at the end of this post or if you are on Twitter, use the hashtag #IndiaPD2010. Click here to see the names which are on the list.

Pothi has a new feature called BookSmith which turns blogs into print and e-books. @pothidotcom sent out a tweet to answer the questions people may have about this feature: Why BookSmith when my browser has a print option?" and "Why a print book is not a printed e-book?"
